The Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership (PP), Agus Taufiqurrahman, M.Kes., Sp.S., and the Chancellor of UMSU, Prof. Agussani, MAP, represented by the Vice Chancellor III of UMSU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rudianto, M.Si released 14 students of the Faculty of Law who carried out the International Community Service (KKN) program in Hat Yai, Southern Thailand. The release was held on Thursday (5/9) in the UMSU Campus Meeting Room, Jalan Muchtar Basri No.3, Medan.
According to the Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah, this International KKN is part of UMSU’s internationalization efforts and Muhammadiyah’s role in the international arena.
In his remarks, Agus Taufiqurrahman said, “Bismillah, I also release the students of the Faculty of Law for the international KKN in Hat Yai, Thailand. Congratulations to UMSU who always excels and continues to inspire the people, nation, and international humanity.” He said..
Then, the Vice Chancellor III of UMSU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rudianto, M.Si, expressed his appreciation to the Dean of the Faculty of Law for initiating this extraordinary program. He said that, “The International KKN Program is not only beneficial for academic progress and credit recognition for friends, but also provides very valuable international experience,”
The relationship between UMSU and Southern Thailand is also very close, considering the presence of foreign students from Thailand studying at UMSU. Then, Thailand is a country that is advanced in the fields of Agriculture and Technology so that students need to learn a lot from that country.
WR III hopes that students who go to Thailand can carry out the program safely and smoothly so that they return with knowledge, science, experience, and networks.
Previously, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Faisal, S.H., M.Hum, Dean of the Faculty of Law UMSU, together with Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Law UMSU, Dr. Atikah Rahmi, S.H., M.H., reported that the International KKN in Thailand was held for 21 days starting from September 9 to October 1, 2024.
“Students will be divided into six locations to carry out community service or teach Thai citizens. Hopefully this program can strengthen the integrity of the Faculty of Law and UMSU.” said the Dean of the Faculty of Law, UMSU.
This International KKN program has been held twice by the Faculty of Law. Previously it was held in Malaysia and this year it was held in Southern Thailand.
Finally, the Head of the KKN Group, Dalim, representing his colleagues, hoped for support and prayers from all parties. “We need guidance and prayers so that activities there run smoothly and safely until we return to Indonesia,” he said.
This program is expected to not only broaden students’ horizons and knowledge, but also establish closer relations between UMSU and Thailand, and provide positive contributions in an international context.
