Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) hosted Universiti Malaya Malaysia (UMM) for the International Astronomy and Falak Seminar on November 25-26, 2025, at the VIP Room, Jalan Muchtar Basri No. 3, Medan. Opened by Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, M.A.P. (represented by Vice Rector I Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arifin, M.Hum.), the event featured visiting professor sessions, sharing discussions, and a tour of UMSU’s Falak Observatory.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Saiful Anwar hailed UMSU as a strategic partner with aligned global visions, committing to joint research via matching funds and student exchanges. Vice Rector Arifin noted longstanding ties, UMSU’s 80 international students, 2,000+ annual outbound programs, and OIF’s prestige—even NASA visits.
Key attendees included FAI Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zailani, M.A., OIF Head Dr. Arwin Juli Rahmadi Butar-Butar, M.A., UMM experts Dr. Nurulhuda Binti Ahmad Zaki and Dr. Mohammaddin Bin Abdul Niri, 30 UMM students, and 50 FAI UMSU students.
