In commemoration of Eid al-Adha 1446 Hijri, the University of Muhammadiyah North Sumatra (UMSU), in collaboration with the Muhammadiyah Association Singapore, carried out the noble tradition of qurban—the slaughtering of sacrificial animals—as both an act of worship and a reflection of deep social responsibility and compassion.A total of 120 sacrificial animals, comprising 70 cows and 50 goats, were slaughtered and the meat was distributed fairly across multiple locations, ensuring that the blessings of Eid could be shared widely with communities in need.
As part of this meaningful effort, the Muhammadiyah Association Singapore also extended their contribution to local social institutions by distributing qurban meat to Panti Asuhan Puteri Aisyiyah and Panti Asuhan Putera Muhammadiyah. This initiative was a vital step to ensure that orphans and vulnerable groups were included in the joy and spiritual significance of the occasion.
Through this cross-border collaboration, the spirit of qurban—symbolizing sacrifice, solidarity, and social justice—continues to flourish, strengthening bonds between communities and reaffirming the shared values of care, empathy, and humanity.
