
UMSU Signs Memorandum of Understanding with North Sumatra Provincial Government to Enhance Development Quality
Medan, March 20, 2025 – Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) reaffirms its commitment to supporting the development of North Sumatra through a strategic partnership with the North Sumatra Provincial Government. Representing UMSU’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, the Vice Rector for Cooperation, Dr. Rudianto, M.Si., signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the North Sumatra Governor, Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution. The signing took place at the Governor’s Office as part of the Public Consultation event for the preparation of the 2025-2029 Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) and the 2026 Regional Government Work Plan (RKPD).
Alongside UMSU, two other universities, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) and Universitas Negeri Medan (UNIMED), also signed similar agreements. The event gathered hundreds of participants, including the Chairman of the North Sumatra Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), all regional leaders across North Sumatra, the Provincial Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), government officials, representatives from universities, private sector stakeholders, and community leaders.
UMSU’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, expressed his appreciation to the Governor and Vice Governor of North Sumatra for the opportunity to collaborate in regional development. “We are fully committed to supporting the enhancement of development quality in North Sumatra by leveraging all of UMSU’s resources. UMSU has consistently contributed to improving human resource quality through education, producing outstanding graduates who play vital roles in both government and the private sector,” he stated.
He further emphasized that the MoU, signed at the beginning of Governor Bobby Nasution’s leadership, serves as a strategic momentum to explore more impactful collaborations for the community. “UMSU’s vision of fostering civilization aligns closely with North Sumatra’s goal of achieving excellence, progress, and sustainable development,” he added.
This partnership is expected to accelerate development quality across various sectors, particularly in education, research, and community service, reinforcing the vital role of higher education institutions in supporting government policies.
