Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra (UMSU) released 12 students from the Faculty of Engineering (FATEK) to participate in Student Mobility at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA). All students were released directly by the Chancellor of UMSU Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP represented by Vice Chancellor III Dr. Rudianto, M.Si on Saturday (12/4) in the VIP Room of UMSU Jalan Muchtar Basri No.3 Medan.
Based on a report from the PIC of the Liza Evianti Tanjung Program, S.T., M.Eng, this activity will last for one week, starting from 13-19 April 2025 and students will participate in academic activities such as laboratory visits, joint lectures, and flood mitigation education which will also be delivered to vocational school students in Malaysia.
Vice Chancellor III, Dr. Rudianto on this occasion said that international experience is very important for students in the era of globalization. “This is the experience and spirit that Gen-Z wants, the experience of studying abroad. Of course, it will be very beneficial for all children and for the nation. This international experience has a very high value,” he said.
According to him, Pahang is a beautiful and prosperous country that is extraordinary so that Engineering students can learn a lot and get networking during the exchange.”Campuses in Malaysia are also very interested in collaborating with our campus, so it is not surprising that there are often visits from Malaysian campuses here,” said WR III He also advised students to improve their English and not be satisfied with just participating in exchange programs in Malaysia.
In line with the Vice Dean III of Engineering, Affandi stated that this program had been prepared for more than a month and was a form of priority for the internationalization of the Faculty of Engineering.”The Faculty of Engineering has only implemented this international program twice, and the students who went were those who were active in organizational activities,” he explained.
WD 3 of Engineering also added that students would receive rewards and academic support for this collaboration.
Then, the Head of Civil Engineering Study Program, Assoc. Prof. Ir. Fahrizal hopes that this program will continue sustainably. “This is the second program, and I hope it can be done twice a year. This visit will broaden our horizons,” he hoped.
Then, representatives of students who participated in this activity expressed their enthusiasm. Mawar Prisila admitted that she wanted to experience the atmosphere of studying abroad, “The preparation was quite an effort, but Alhamdulillah we are leaving tomorrow.”
Meanwhile, Suci Manurung, who was going abroad for the first time, hoped to bring a lot of knowledge and benefits from this visit.
Oktarin Siagian also expressed his hope that the team would remain compact during the international activity.
Muhammad Dio Abdillah added that the lab and class visits were very useful. “Starting from the lab can produce qualified ideas,” he said.
The farewell ceremony was attended by a number of campus officials, including WR 3 UMSU Dr. Rudianto, M.Si., WD 3 Teknik Affandi, S.T., M.T., Head of Civil Engineering Study Program Assoc. Prof. Ir. Fahrizal Zulkarnain, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPM., and representatives of lecturers such as Kabiro, PIC, OIC, Kaprodi and Sekpro Civil Engineering Rizal and Risky. This program is also directly supervised by the PIC of the Program Liza Evianti Tanjung, S.T., M.Eng.
This program is expected to be an important milestone in strengthening bilateral relations between campuses and opening students’ insights to global challenges and solutions.
