UMSU is honored to host a collaborative discussion with the Consulate General of Malaysia in Medan, featuring a special briefing by the Consul General of Malaysia on Malaysia’s Chairmanship of ASEAN 2025: Rethinking ASEAN.
The Vice Rector III of UMSU, Dr. Rudianto, M.Si, welcomed the fourth visit of the Malaysian Consul General to UMSU and emphasized the importance of the cooperation between UMSU and the Malaysian Consulate General. One of the planned programs is the pantun festival between Indonesia and Malaysia. Rudianto also stated that this discussion is crucial to support Malaysia’s leadership in ASEAN in 2025 and strengthen the stable relations among ASEAN countries.
The discussion was attended by various academic representatives and students from UMSU, including the Dean of FISIP UMSU and several lecturers. The Malaysian Consul General, Shahril Nizam, stated that this discussion aims to broaden perspectives on ASEAN’s future role. He explained Malaysia’s priorities in leading ASEAN, which include maintaining peace, stability, and prosperity, as well as enhancing intra-ASEAN trade and investment.
This session provides valuable insights into the future of ASEAN under Malaysia’s leadership, fostering dialogue and academic engagement.
