Nuclear energy holds a highly impactful, yet complex, position in the global energy landscape. It currently provides approximately 10% of the world’s electricity and about a quarter of its low-carbon electricity, making it the second-largest source of clean power after hydropower.
Today (26/06), Mr. Rémi de Reynal, former R&D Mechanical Engineer at Michelin France, delivered a compelling guest lecture today on “Nuclear Energy: Facts, Potential, and Challenges.” This collaborative event with Alliance Française Medan provided an in-depth look into nuclear energy’s role, alongside insights into study opportunities in France.
Attended by Engineering Faculty board members, lecturers, students, and UMSU’s OIC, the lecture underscored the critical importance of understanding nuclear energy’s complexities and its potential contributions to global energy needs. Mr. de Reynal’s expertise offered a unique perspective on this vital subject.
