
On October 4, 2024, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) organized a formal discussion to initiate potential academic collaboration with National Chiayi University (NCYU) from Taiwan. The event was attended by the Chair of the Office of International Affairs at NCYU, Prof. Jason Yang, who received a warm welcome from the Vice Rector for Student, Alumni, and Cooperation UMSU, along with the Office of International Affairs and Cooperation (OIC) team.
During the discussion, Prof. Jason Yang expressed his gratitude and excitement for visiting UMSU. He particularly highlighted the high level of interest shown by UMSU students towards Taiwan, especially regarding their participation in the Taiwan Experience Education Program (TEEP) internship. He emphasized that he hopes to see the implementation of the TEEP program at NCYU in the near future, allowing more students to engage in academic and cultural exchanges in Taiwan.
The discussion further explored various opportunities for collaboration, including student mobility programs, public lectures, and joint research initiatives. Both parties expressed a mutual interest in delving deeper into potential partnerships that would benefit both institutions. UMSU aims to broaden its students’ access to international learning platforms and experiences, promoting global engagement.
Through this meeting, UMSU and NCYU aspire to establish a strong foundation for collaboration in higher education, fostering stronger ties between Indonesia and Taiwan. Both institutions are optimistic that this cooperation will enhance the quality of education and provide students with invaluable international exposure.
