as many as 51 students of the Communication Studies Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra (IKO FISIP UMSU Study Program) carried out International Field Work Practices (PKL) to a number of places in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Activities coordinated by study program leaders will take place from 12 – 16 August 2024.
"International PKL is one of the new programs from the IKO FISIP UMSU Study Program. "Apart from implementing an OBE-based curriculum, this activity is also to increase students' insight while adding international experience," said Akhyar Anshori, Chair of the IKO Study Program and Secretary of the Faizal Hamzah Lubis Study Program, in a release announced to journalists Friday (16/8).
While in Malaysia, students visited several places and campuses which were also part of International PKL activities. The output of this International PKL is a product created by students in the form of a video or written report.
"The video can be about a short film, it can be an advertisement, it can be a promotion, it can be a profile and the like or the result of an interview. "The themes can also be varied, including, for example, culinary matters, the attraction of tourists to Malaysia, and the lives of urban communities," explained Akhyar again, saying that all the student products would become street vendors' reports and would later be discussed and presented.
A total of 51 students who took part in this PKL seemed enthusiastic about playing all the stages of the activity which lasted for 5 days. While capturing several moments, the students were also seen discussing what products to make. They are also enthusiastic about interviewing sources, both local people, tourists and others.
