
The Medan City Government initiated a farewell event for the Student Exchange. It was conducted by the Rector of UMSU, Prof. Dr. Agussani, M.AP, who was represented by Vice Rector III, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rudianto, M.Si, and Seri Inderahayu AS, M.Si, on behalf of the Medan City Government at the VIP room meeting of UMSU Main Campus, Jalan Kapt. Muchtar Basri No. 3 Medan on Thursday (26/10).
Previously, the Mayor of Medan, Bobby Nasution, formally released four UMSU students on Tuesday, October 24 2023.
The mayor of Medan selected UMSU as the university to send four exceptional students to participate in the Medan City Government program in collaboration with the Gwangju City Government in South Korea. The program will run for a period of two weeks from October 31, 2023 to November 8, 2023.
“Of course, the Mayor of Medan appointed UMSU to be a part of this program for a reason.” It’s a fantastic program for higher education. Congratulations to our children who qualified for this program on behalf of UMSU and Medan City,” Dr. Rudianto said.
Rudianto explained that this program was in line with UMSU’s vision of becoming a university with a global reputation for building civilization. More interaction with the global world or foreign countries is one way to build a global civilization.

Nesya Alya Fayyaza (Faculty of Medicine), M. Ilham Firdaus (Faculty of Islamic Studies), Elza Ahmad Raihan (Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology), and Salsabila Maisah Andani (Faculty of Economics and Business) were the four UMSU students who passed this program. The students were chosen based on their achievements, competence, and consideration.
Meanwhile, Medan City Government Representative Seri Inderahayu AS, S.Sos., M.Si conveyed a message that students should participate in all programs according to the specified schedule.
“Please follow the existing rules as outlined in the briefing. Bring the good things and take all the positive things to Medan during your stay.” said Mrs.Seri Inderahayu.
Salsabila Maisah Andani from the Faculty of Economics and Business spoke on behalf of the students, thanking the University, City Government, and Parents for their support in her participation in this program.
“This is an incredible opportunity, and I am very proud of myself.” Thank you to the university for always encouraging its students to succeed. “Hopefully, we can bring good names to the Medan City Government and UMSU,” Salsa said excitedly.
Similarly, Darmiyati Zain, representing the parents, was honored and hoped that whatever the goals of this program were, they would be beneficial to everyone and obtain advantages for all.
The event was attended by the Head of Student Affairs, the Head of the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Islamic Studies, the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, the Faculty of Economic and Business, the Office of International Affairs and Cooperation Team, Student’s Parents, and Medan City Government Representative Staff.
