Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera (UMSU) hosted a “Cultural and Education Exchange” event with distinguished guests from Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Thailand. This visit was part of an initiative to improve cooperation between the two higher education institutions. This activity was held at the UMSU Auditorium on Tuesday (27/02).
The PSU delegation was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Faisol Haji Awang, Head of the Department of Malay Language and Studies, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, PSU, was warmly greeted by the UMSU Rector, represented by Vice Rector for Student, Alumni and Cooperation Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rudianto, M.Si.
Dancing and Malay cultural arts performances were featured at the opening ceremony. afterwards, Vice Rector III of UMSU delivered remarks, and the Chair of the UMSU Center for Malay Studies presented how Malay culture developed in North Sumatra. This activity was further enhanced by the introduction of Dikir Hulu, in an effort to improve cross-cultural understanding of Malay culture in Thailand.
This visit not only enhanced the experience of academics from both universities, but it also strengthened ties between Indonesia and Thailand through meaningful cultural exchanges.
