Principal Officer of the United States Consulate in Sumatra, Bernard Uadan and Chancellor Prof. Agussani, MAP inaugurated the Education USA office located on the Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra (UMSU) campus on Jalan Captain Thursday (2/5).
Also accompanying the Head of the North Sumatra Education Service, Ir. Abdul Haris Lubis, M.Si, Head of LLDikti Region 1 Prof. Drs. Saiful Anwar Matondang, M.A., Ph.D and 150 school principals in North Sumatra were present.
The Principal Officer of the USA Consulate in Sumatra, Bernard, said he was very grateful to have collaborated with UMSU, so that this center could be inaugurated and provide educational information services in America to the general public for free.
The Education USA Center at UMSU is the only one in North Sumatra and is the 7th center out of 6 cities in Indonesia. Providing services and a platform for the community to obtain further educational information in the United States.
“Thank you, UMSU, especially the Chancellor, for providing support by providing facilities so that this center can be established, not only for UMSU but it can be useful for the community,” said Bernard during the Pres Conference.
He hopes that the relationship between Indonesia and the USA for 75 years will become closer and that the center at UMSU will make it easier for people to get information about studying in the United States.
“I hope that with this center, more and more students in Indonesia, especially Sumatra, will study in America,” said Bernard.
Meanwhile, the Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP really appreciates the appointment of UMSU as the 7th Education USA location, a forum for bridging the community to obtain educational information in the United States.
“This is certainly one of our dreams that needs to be cherished and an extraordinary trust. “Hopefully the Education USA center will be useful for UMSU students and the general public,” said the UMSU Chancellor in an interview.
He also said that the relationship between UMSU and the USA had been going on since 2012. Trying to create good relationships and cooperation in the field of education, “If there is no recognition and trust from the community, then there will be no cooperation. “UMSU is always ready for better future plans,” said Prof. Agussani.
Head of the North Sumatra Education Service, Ir. Abdul Haris, who was also present, expressed his support to UMSU and the USA Consulate. He believes that the establishment of this center will be an important part of the world of education in North Sumatra in the future.
The inauguration was marked by the handing of a ribbon,
signing of an MoU between UMSU and the USA Consulate in Sumatra and handing over souvenirs. Also watching were the ranks of the USA Consulate in Sumatra, Faculty Leaders throughout UMSU, Heads of Bureaus throughout UMSU and Institutions and Units throughout UMSU
