The United States Ambassador to Indonesia, Kamala Shirin Lakhdhir, made an official visit to the campus of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) located on Jalan Kapten Mukhtar Basri, Medan, on Tuesday (24/9). Her visit included a meeting with the university’s leadership and an interaction session with new UMSU students who were taking part in the PKKMB (Student Orientation Program).
During her visit, Ambassador Kamala shared valuable insights from her personal journey, particularly reflecting on her early years as a university student in the United States. She candidly recalled how, at the start of her academic life, she wasn’t entirely focused on her studies and spent much of her time enjoying social activities and building friendships. However, as she matured and progressed in her university career, her perspective shifted, leading her to prioritize her academic goals and put greater effort into achieving success.
The Ambassador’s story was well-received by the students, as she emphasized the importance of balancing social life with academic dedication, encouraging them to find their focus and make the most of their time at university. Her message resonated strongly, inspiring the students to reflect on their own academic journeys and the opportunities ahead of them.
