UMSU took part in an Academic Meeting with the Deputy Minister of Higher Education Malaysia at Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta (UMJ) on Thursday (27/06).
UMSU’s Rector, Prof. Agussani, M.AP, and UMJ’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Ma’mun Murod, M.Si, warmly welcomed Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Education, Datuk Ts. Mustapha Sakmud. During his speech, Prof. Dr. Ma’mun Murod praised UMSU as an excellent accredited campus outside Java, highlighting it as the reason for their special invitation to the event.
The meeting focused on strengthening educational cooperation between Muhammadiyah universities, particularly UMJ, and UMSU, specifically the Faculty of Medicine.
“There are many areas where we can discuss and implement cooperative efforts at both the ministry and university levels. We aim to further strengthen existing educational programs and create opportunities for Indonesian students to study in Malaysia, and vice versa,” said Mustapha.

During the event, UMSU’s Rector, Prof. Agussani, M.AP, presented an Ulos, a traditional Batak cloth, to Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Higher Education as a gesture of welcome, along with a commemorative plaque.
This collaboration allows PTMA (Muhammadiyah Aisyiah College) to accept Malaysian students into their Faculty of Medicine, furthering educational ties between the two nations.
Deputy Minister Datuk Ts. Mustapha Sakmud expressed his admiration for the development and progress of Muhammadiyah, which inspired his interest in enhancing educational collaboration with Muhammadiyah institutions.
