Assoc. Prof. Kumaran Narayanan, the deputy head of Monash University’s from Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences, reportedly shared their goals to UMSU in order to have talks about potential collaboration options with medical faculty and other faculties.
“We’re from Monash University Malaysia are very enthusiastic about collaborating with UMSU in all aspects in the fields of education, research and staff training,” Kumaran added.
After this conversation, Kumaran hopes that UMSU and Monash University Malaysia would be able immediately sign a Memorandum of Understanding about joint research, visiting lectures, exchange faculty and staff, and exchange students
“So on this occasion, we hope that Monash University Malaysia and Australia can be involved with UMSU for future developments,” said Kumaran.
Prior to this, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rudianto, M.Si, Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation, presented UMSU as the only approved Excellent campus in Sumatra, acknowledged by MQA Malaysia, awarded four stars by QS Star, and classified as the 21st best private campus in Southeast Asia.
“We offer at least 20 full scholarships to students in ASEAN nations each year.” Speaking about UMSU’s international programs, Vice Rector III stated, “We are also very concerned about international student exchange programs.”
According to Dr. Rudianto, this conversation was essential for UMSU’s goals to expand globally, including partnerships with other organizations and institutions. It is intended that discussions on the collaboration’s continuation with the UMSU Faculty of Medicine, Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) and International Affairs and Cooperation (OIC) will take place shortly.
Previously, on Tuesday (30/1), the Monash University Malaysia representatives —which included Muhamad Noor Alfarizal Kamarudin, Ph.D. (Lecturer), Syafiq Asnawi, Ph.D. (Lecturer), and Assoc. Prof. Kumaran Narayanan in his position as Deputy Head of School of the Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences—visited UMSU Faculty of Medicine at Jl. Arca Building No.53, Teladan.
The LPPM Chairman, Syaiful Amri Saragih, S.P., M.Sc., and his team, together with the Dean of Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Siti Masliana Sp.THT-KL(K) and Vice Dean were also present during this discussion.
