Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) welcomed a Benchmarking Visit from the Institute of Small and Medium Enterprise (ISME), Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) as part of efforts to strengthen international collaboration in the fields of entrepreneurship and small and medium enterprise (SME) development.
The visit was conducted at the Center for Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Business (CEIB), UMSU, serving as a strategic platform for both institutions to exchange insights, best practices, and experiences related to entrepreneurial ecosystems, innovation-driven programs, and SME empowerment.
This benchmarking activity aimed to foster cross-border collaboration by exploring UMSU’s initiatives, management models, and innovation strategies in supporting entrepreneurship and business development. Through constructive discussions and knowledge sharing, both parties sought to identify opportunities for future cooperation, joint programs, and academic–industry partnerships.
During the visit, representatives from ISME UMK engaged in interactive sessions with UMSU officials and entrepreneurship practitioners, discussing program implementation, student involvement, business incubation, and community-based SME development. The activity also highlighted UMSU’s role in nurturing entrepreneurial mindsets among students and supporting local business growth.
The benchmarking visit reflects the shared commitment of UMSU and UMK to advancing entrepreneurship education and SME development through international collaboration, contributing to sustainable economic growth and innovation in the ASEAN region.
