Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) had the honor of hosting Mr. Aw Tuan Kee, Deputy Principal of Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore, and Dr. Edmund Chia, Consul-General of Singapore in Medan. This significant visit marks a pivotal moment in strengthening bilateral relations in the fields of education and innovation between Singapore and Indonesia.
The meeting was attended by UMSU’s Rector and key university officials, who warmly welcomed the distinguished guests. The agenda focused on exploring and initiating future collaborations, with discussions centering on several key areas:
- Student Exchange Programs:
Both institutions expressed strong interest in establishing reciprocal student exchange programs, aiming to broaden students’ global perspectives and foster cross-cultural understanding. - Research Collaboration:
Opportunities for joint research projects were discussed, with an emphasis on leveraging each institution’s strengths to address regional and global challenges. - Joint Development Projects:
The parties explored the possibility of undertaking joint development initiatives, including curriculum development, innovation hubs, and community engagement programs.
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to formalize these collaborations through Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in the near future. Both UMSU and Temasek Polytechnic are optimistic that these efforts will create a globally connected educational ecosystem rooted in regional excellence.
