Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) proudly hosted an international guest lecture on June 10, 2025, featuring Dr. Martono Anggusti, the Royal Thai Honorary Consul in Medan, as the keynote speaker. The event carried the theme “Global Startup: Local Flavor, World Impact”, emphasizing the importance of bridging local innovation with global opportunity.
During his lecture, Dr. Martono shared insights on how local potential and cultural identity can serve as strong foundations for creating startups with international reach. He highlighted the role of innovation, strategic adaptability, and community-driven business models in shaping sustainable solutions that not only solve local problems but also resonate on a global scale.
The session encouraged students to adopt a visionary mindset, to take action that is culturally and socially relevant, and to design initiatives that are deeply rooted in local values while holding the potential for international impact. It also served as a platform for fostering entrepreneurial thinking, cross-cultural collaboration, and global leadership.
