On Monday, September 2, 2024, the students of the Field Study Program (PKL) from the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (Faperta UMSU), officially began their international internship at the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI). The welcoming ceremony was graced by Director General MARDI, Dato’ Dr. Mohamad Zabawi bin Abdul Ghani, who extended a warm reception to the students.
Over the next 20 days, Faperta UMSU students will undergo intensive training across various departments at MARDI. The program is designed to provide practical experience and in-depth knowledge of agricultural research and development, as well as the latest agricultural technologies. In his speech, Dato’ Dr. Mohamad Zabawi bin Abdul Ghani expressed his pride in hosting international students from UMSU and emphasized the importance of global collaboration in addressing challenges in the agricultural sector. “We are delighted to welcome the Faperta UMSU students to MARDI. We hope this experience will be a valuable opportunity for them to learn, share knowledge, and broaden their understanding of agricultural innovations. This also serves as an opportunity for us to strengthen international relations in the field of agriculture,” said Dato’ Dr. Mohamad Zabawi bin Abdul Ghani.
This program includes various activities, from technical training in laboratories and research facilities to field visits showcasing practical applications of agricultural technologies. Additionally, students will be involved in ongoing research projects, providing them with the chance to apply theoretical knowledge gained in their studies to real-world contexts.
