Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) proudly hosted the event titled Cross-Cultural Student Leadership: Navigating Identity and Influence in ASEAN Youth, successfully bringing together a distinguished group of student leaders who represent the rich diversity of the ASEAN region.
The forum featured inspiring voices such as Vickri Febrian from Indonesia, Shalini Raj A/P Mohan Raj from Malaysia, and Kathleen Hope Polison Marte from the Philippines.
Under the thoughtful moderation of Dinda Putri Ayu, S.H., the event fostered vibrant cross-cultural exchanges where participants explored the complexities of youth identity and the significant role that culture plays in shaping leadership across ASEAN countries. The candid discussions highlighted the challenges and opportunities young leaders face in maintaining their cultural roots while embracing regional cooperation and global influence.
Adding a celebratory and unifying dimension to the gathering, traditional dances and songs from each represented country were performed, symbolizing ASEAN’s shared heritage and mutual respect. This blend of dialogue and cultural expression not only deepened understanding but also reinforced the spirit of unity among ASEAN youth leaders, inspiring them to continue driving positive change in their communities and beyond.
