On Tuesday, 9-10 November 2024, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) hosted the inaugural workshop for an ambitious international research collaboration titled “Design and Development of Cognitive AI Chatbot (CAIC) for Academic Management in Higher Education Institutions.” This project brings together experts and students from three universities: UMSU, Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UNIMAP), and Uzbekistan-Finland Pedagogical Institute (UZFIPI), with the goal of revolutionizing academic management through cognitive AI technology.
The workshop marked the first step in a two-year program supported by a $15,000 grant. UNIMAP’s team included notable researchers Dr. Salina Mohd. Asi, Prof. Anuar Mat Safar, and Dr. Fatanah Deraman, while UMSU was represented by Dr. Alkhowarizmi, Dr. Firrahmi Rizky, and a dedicated team of students and programmers. This collaborative effort seeks to harness the expertise of all three universities, with UNIMAP set to hold a follow-up workshop at UZFIPI in January.
The collaboration highlights the importance of cross-border teamwork in addressing global educational challenges. As the program progresses, these institutions are poised to create innovative solutions that could redefine academic management systems worldwide.
