
The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara held the first International Symposium with the theme “Strengthening the Potential of Local Resources Towards Sustainable Agriculture” on Monday (11/09) at Faculty of Agriculture Hall UMSU.
This activity was opened by Vice Rector for Academic and Curriculum Affairs UMSU, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arifin, M.Hum and also presented at the event, Vice Dean I & III of the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Dr. Ir. Wan Arfiani Barus, M.P and Akbar Habib, S.P., M.P., Board member of OIC UMSU, Eri Yanti Nasution, M.Si, and Head of BPM Dr. Yan Hendra, M.Si

At the same time, UMSU was invited to conduct joint research by College Vocational Studies IPB University, which included researchers from Kyushu University and Tokyo University of Agriculture. The researchers involved in this joint research program are Prof. Dr. Ir. Mhd Buhari Sibuea, M.Si (Researcher at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara), Prima Gandhi, M.Si (Researcher at College Vocational Studies IPB University), Prof. Hiroshi Isoda (Researcher at Kyushu University), Prof. Takanashi Fumie (Tokyo University of Agriculture) and Ahmad Gunawan (Graduate Student of Faculty of Agriculture UMSU).
The implementation of this international symposium and joint research activities is concrete evidence from the Faculty of Agriculture UMSU that the Faculty of Agriculture provides full support for the internationalization of UMSU. By providing this opportunity, it is hoped that there would be a lot more events featuring renowned universities in Indonesia and around the world.
